Cubic Meters Calculator
Enter the length, width, and depth in metres to find the volume in cubic meters (m³), plus cubic feet and cubic yards.
How to calculate cubic meters
Measure every side in metres and multiply length × width × depth. Depth is often in centimetres, so divide it by 100 to get metres first. To convert from cubic feet, multiply by 0.0283168.
Cubic Meters = Length (m) × Width (m) × Depth (m)
Worked example
A slab 5 metres long, 4 metres wide, and 10 cm deep.
- Depth = 10 cm ÷ 100 = 0.1 m
- Volume = 5 × 4 × 0.1
Result: 2 cubic meters
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate cubic meters?
Multiply length × width × depth, all measured in metres. A slab 5 m by 4 m by 0.1 m is 2 cubic meters.
How many litres are in a cubic meter?
There are 1,000 litres in one cubic meter.
How do I convert cubic feet to cubic meters?
Multiply the number of cubic feet by 0.0283168 to get cubic meters.
How do I work out cubic meters of concrete?
Measure the area's length, width, and thickness in metres, multiply them together, and order about 10% extra to allow for spillage and uneven ground.
